So yet again for the 3rd time this season it was SULFC Vs Hayling Utd,and along trip down to the island on a chilly thursday for a 7:30pm kick-off

SULFC were without some very key players for the team. Captain zoe was out with a knee injury, second top goalscorer Em was out and on top of that Karleen's strike partner Finchy was also out injurerd. As you can see not a great start for SULFC going into this match.

Sarah Payne took over as acting captain for the night and won the toss and SULFC kicked off the game.

Like so many of our games SULFC were 1st out the blocks and attacked from the off. With NO wingers in the team at all, everything seemed to be going down the middle of the park and everything seemed to look abit scrappy for the 1st 20 minutes. However on the 25th minute SULFC opened the scoring with a FANTASTIC long range effort from scotty. The shot came from about 20 yards out and hitting the keepers right hand post, rolling across the line and ending up in the back of the net.... 1-0 SULFC

However for some strange reason that never got us going. Hayling were now starting to play football and were looking like getting that goal back. They were using the long ball over the top to try and catch out our centre backs, but the defense were used to this type of football from other teams in the league and were not giving anything up.

The half played it self out with SULFC having most of the ball, but as i say it was all down the middle and we were not getting anything to the wings.

Half time SULFC 1 .............. Hayling Utd 0

With a few minor changes to the line up and a quick shuffle at the back SULFC were ready for the 2nd half. Yet again SULFC were out the blocks fastest and took the game back to Hayling. We were now starting to get the ball wider and give ourself some more options down both flanks. Ally and Marie were now seeing alot more of the ball and starting to attack alot more down both wings. SULFC were looking like getting the next goal, and on the 58th minute a strange turn of events happened when a shot from the right wing caught Haylings keeper out. the ball hit the post and rolled very slowy back towards the middle of the goal. The keeper running at full pace to cliam the ball ended up crashing into the post and it was a simple tap in for karleen from less than a yard out. A quick bit of banter from karleen to the coach of " is that what you mean by following up shots " was met with " so you do listen to me then ".

Along stoppage was to follow as to make sure haylings goalkeeper was ok. it looked very painfull and from all at SULFC we hope that haylings keeper recovers in quick time.

Hayling were without thier sub keeper, and had to put their centre midfielder in goal. This gave SULFC abit more moral and opted to start testing the new hayling keeper.

All credit to her, she was keeping out alot of shots from SULFC, but you can only keep them out for so long. A nice ball from midfield on the 76th minute was picked up by karleen, she ran the ball in from about 25 yards out and struck and low shot from 14 yards out across the keeper to make it 3-0 SULFC

With only a short amount of time left on the clock SULFC were just trying to play out the game and keep that sheet clean. its been along time since we have kept a clean sheet and that was the target tonight.

It was not all over just yet, as SULFC were given a free kick on the very far left hand side of haylings 18 yards box. SULFC's very own david beckham stepped up ( Scotty ) and put the ball into the keepers top right hand corner to make it 4-0 SULFC

A great night for SULFC 4 goals scored none conceded and with a weakend side with no width, we came though in the end. It was a scrappy game and one that we will take. We were not able to get the ball down and play our passing game on the deck like we are used to, but still 4 nil is still 4 nil. well done to all the girls a good result and one that we needed to keep us up there in contention for the league. With games running out and needing a few results to go our way, SULFC must win ALL thier remaining games.

FULL TIME ... SULFC 4 ...... Hayling Utd 0
