Well, this was a bit of a laugh really! Wessex dominated basically the whole game! With a bit of a mixed up team today and lack of players available, we knew that we were going to have to have luck (and the ref) on our side. Similarly, New Forest had a similar problem and were struggling for numbers.

After winning the toss, SULFC made a promising start, really threatening the New Forest goal. Their keeper was in the right place at the right time too often for wessex, but eventually the break came. With Ally's corners floating right into the 6 yard box, we finally managed to get one in. Yes that's right, we scored from a corner!

Pressing hard again, wessex pushed the ball wide and forced more and more corners. After another brilliant cross for Ally, the hand of God appeared, and the deflection allowed karen to smack the ball into the back of the net. Unfortunately the ref saw the hand of said God, and disallowed the goal.

New Forest were causing a little bit of trouble, but not much, and the one player that was threatening us just a bit unfortunately went off at half time, and New Forest were down to 10.

Half time 1-0 wessex.

So after attempting to change the line up to attack a little bit more and a change of keeper as the first one was very bored after touching the ball once in 45mins, we lined up for the second half. Again the goal keeper didn't make a save or touch the ball for a loooooooong time. Unfortunately poor Huggy's injured foot gave out a bit more, and so we changed keeper again. Back to a more familiar line up, wessex pressed hard. Finchy pressed a little too hard kicking the ball out of the keepers hands (according to the ref) and saw ANOTHER goal disallowed.

The back line really were getting bored, with all the play coming from SULFC. Give New Forest credit though, they kept us out pretty well. With the ref being on our side after our, some what amusing antics from the game the week before (and thinking Daisy was still in Jesters today.....) we got a penalty, which was as debatable as last weeks. A yell of shotgun from Ally at the back saw her run up the pitch to take it. Thankfully it went in, else she would have been in trouble!

All in all it was a bit of a scrappy game, and we should have scored a lot more (and would of if a certain player didn't ditch us to go to Wembley) but a win is a win. Well done girls. Salisbury Weds night and need you all there!
