Todays match was SULFC's 1st cup game, and we didn't get the easiest of teams to start with.

Basingstoke town reserves in the 1st round was always going to be a very tough test for the team.

The 1st half started of very well for us, we had alot more of the ball, and were taken chance after chance after chance. Basingstokes keeper was having to pull of saves and only are accuracy was letting us down.

Great passing an movement off the ball was our strong point in the 1st half and with just 10 minutes left untill half time we got our break through.

Karleen with what can only be described as a FANTASTIC individual piece of play took on 3 defenders and the keeper to slot homke the 1st goal of the game 1-0 to SULFC.

We held firm for the last 10 minutes of the 1st half great defending on our behalf and yet again for the 3rd week running, the post stopped a 2nd goal for us.

More of the same was to come in the 2nd half with basingstoke coming out strong and looking to get that goal to draw level.

It took a string of great saves from daisy to stop that from happening, but you can only keep them out for so long, and with 15 minutes till the final whistle basingstoke got that goal back, with a great shot from outside the 18 yrd box that curled into the top right hand corner of the goal.

It was end to end stuff for the last 15 minutes with both teams having to defend and then attack. Legs were getting weak and fittness was going to be the key winner if a goal was to come before the 90 minutes was up.

That was not to be the case and after 90 minutes the score was 1-1

So extra time it was and both teams were really going for it. however it was basingstoke who got the break through when a very skillfull midfielder managed to break past our centre midfield, and then our 2 centre backs to slot a low hard shot into the bottom right corner Basingstoke 2 SULFC 1

With in minutes basingstoke went 3 goals to the good with yet another strong run down the wing this time and a low hard drive of a shot to the keepers left Basingstoke 3 SULFC 1

With our heads held high and now what seemed a mountain to climb, SULFC came out wanting those 2 goals back, But for all our effort we just could not find the back of the net.

A great game and alot of positives to take away. SULFC gave 110% on the pitch today and should be extremly proud.
