in a match with so many goals this game really could of gone either way. 11 goals in 90 minutes and it could of so easily of been a very different day for SULFC.
In the 1st half SULFC were all over the place, not passing, not closing down hayling and being lazy. This showed when hayling took the lead on the 10th minute with a solo effort from their striker.
SULFC picked their heads up and got on with the game knowing that there was plenty of time to get that 1 goal back.
the come back came from the captain zoe as a nice cross field ball from helen found zoe on the left wing, she ran at pace towards the goal and hit a nice shot high into the goal 1-1
Hayling were not just going to roll over, and 35 minutes into the game we gave away a free kick on the edge of the area, they hit the free kick at goal, and it took a deflection off one of the defenders and went in the goal.. 2-1 hayling.
yet agin we were on the back foot, but as we always do, we pick our heads up and search for our next goal.
It came in the way of the teams top goalscorer Karleen, who from close range made it 2-2
just before half time sarah payne went in for a 50/50 challenge in the air with the hayling right winger and the hayling winger came off worse, so bad an ambulance needed to be called, and half time was called with 2 minutes left to play
half-time ... 2-2
the 2nd half kicked off and SULFC were out the blocks quickest.
Em picked up the ball from the right wing and used all her pace to run at haylings left back, after she got round her it was 1 on 1 with the keeper, em doin the job it was 3-2 SULFC
Within about 50 seconds em scored an exact goal as she just had 4-2 SULFC
even with a 4-2 lead we still wanted more, and we got the 5th from again our captain zoe, who from the left cut inside her marker and put a low hard shot into the bottom corner 5-2 SULFC
However after that goal we seemed to switch off slighty, and we let hayling back in it with some poor defending and haylings striker got her 2nd goal and made it 5-3
knowing we had switched off and knowing hayling were gonna puch us all the way to the end, we needed more goals. up pop karleen again with a solo effort from just inside the box. 6-3 SULFC
yet again hayling were just not going to go away, and hit us on the counter attack leaving haylings midfiled 1 on 1 with daisy, hayling getting the better of the keeper to make it 6-4.
with the game coming to a close there was just 1 last chance for em to pop up on the right wing to seal her hat-trick...
final score SULFC 7 .... Hayling United 4
great game, loads of goals. couldn't be happier
